TWA's and TSA

Summer is upon us and that means vacations! If you are like me and hate checking bags then you have to pack light. However, as a natural we often need more than one product to do our hair and those shampo and conditioner samples they offer in the hotels don't cut it. So to help you stay fly when you fly/travel I have complied a list of a few natural hair companies that offer travel/sample kits.

So ladies what are your vacation plans for this summer?

Guess Who's Bizack!!!

Hello darlings!

I am back with a vengeance and a killer tan! The Bahamas was seriously A-Mahzing! I know I promised style posts but I pretty much lived in my bathing suits. If you follow me on Instagram than you have already seen most of these pictures but for those who don't (although you really should-iambarbiedee) here are a few pictures from my trip.

Stayed at the Grand Lucayan in Freeport, Bahamas.

The grounds and the views are absolutely beautiful.

Cloudy morning, it rained for two days straight, torrential downpours.
Wish I remembered how to play chess.

Here comes the rain again ...

Rain finally stopped

Heading home

Lola (my hair) was stunting in the Bahamas. She was getting so much attention it was insane. People kept asking me what I use in my hair and how I get it like that (I rock coil outs). And she had her first reach out and touch without permission experience. The lady then had the audacity to invite another woman to do the same-thankfully the other woman restrained herself. I let it slide because I was kind of excited that Lola was stunting that hard. I would have taken more pictures except my camera broke. It got wet while on an excursion. All in all a great time!

A Pop of Color!

It's Monday, that means a personal style post. This is what I wore to Boston's National Natural Hair Meetup Day event - A Kinky, Curly, Coily Connection.

National Natural Hair Meetup Day!

On Saturday, I attended Boston's National Natural Hair Meetup Day event hosted by My Natural Beautiful Natural Essence. Boston naturals came out in full force. The event was absolutely packed! Wall to wall beautiful natural women rocking braid outs, twist outs, locs, braids and fades. The hair in the room was so fly and so big it was blocking views of the speakers! As a fairly new natural it was inspiring to be amongst so many other women who are embracing their natural hair. It makes me proud of my decision to go natural.

Please excuse the awful pictures this was my first time photographing an event for the blog and I was too shy to ask people if I could take their picture. Also the venue was a tad dark but seriously look at those beautiful heads of hair! I promise to do better next time.

National Natural Hair Meetup Day!

May 19, 2012 is National Natural Hair Meetup Day and Boston is having an event! The event hosted by My Beatiful Natural Essence is called A Kinky Curly Coily Connection. It will be held from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM at Market Boston which is located at 21 Broad Street in Boston. I am so excited to meet other naturals, learn new tips, maybe snag some new prodcuts in a swap. Do you have your tickets?

I Went Natural, You Can Too!

It was that damn Joan Carol Clayton! It was all her fault that luscious big crazy hair beckoned me the first time I saw it on my TV screen. I wanted it.  But like so many other people who desire to natural I was discouraged by umm just about everyone I knew and I quote, “Girl, you don’t have hair like Joan. Your sh@$ is nappy”.  So I didn’t go natural until now (well last year). I shaved all my hair off ala Amber Rose and rocked a low fade for about 5 months. It was the most liberating thing I had ever done in my life! No relaxers, no sitting in the salon for hours, no combing, no worrying and about rain drops falling on my head. I am currently rocking a 2.5 inch TWA (Teenie weenie afro) who I loving call Lola!  She is a rebel without a cause, a curly, frizzy, coily mess of hair who I adore. I will do a more in depth discussion about my journey to natural hair in a later post but for now I wanted to introduce everyone to the co-star of my blog. So without further ado, meet Lola!

Normally I wouldn't use the same outfit for back to back posts about different subjects but Lola was looking especially fabulous I just had to use the pictures.

Sunday Style

Last weekend I went to see the phenomenal Tony award winning musical Fela! The show which chronicles the life of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer  Fela Kuti. The show was absolutely amazing!

HELLO WORLD!

I have always wanted to start a style blog but I'm not much of a writer. Honestly, writing gives me anxiety. Words just don't flow naturally for me and yet, here I am starting a blog. You may be asking yourself, "if you don't like writing, then why are you starting a blog?" Well last year I went natural. I did the big chop or perhaps I should call it the big shave since I was rocking a low fade. And while I felt fly with my fade I am currently rocking a 2 inch TWA (teenie weenie afro) named Lola and some days I don't feel so fly. This blog will chronicle my natural hair journey and my style evolution as I try to stay fly while growing out my TWA. By the way I am  a complete product junkie,  makeup (I will tell you about my absolute obsession with eyelashes later), hair care and skin care, so you can definitely expect product reviews. I am hoping my blog will serve as a  resource, especially for those who are newly naturals. A place where we can learn from and be inspired by one another.
